My name is Jayson Wong and I’m a composer. I have always loved large scale sounds – the big movie soundtracks that fill every corner of my ears. Although saying that, I like small and intimate sounds too. I have loved finding exactly the right sound, and that is what I set out to do for people. In my work today, I particularly like to use orchestral compositions to give a sense of scale. I often mix these sounds with more intimate or more modern influences, to create music that is a unique match for each of my projects. Being flexible in this way, as well as being handy at coming up with ideas, has allowed me to work on a wide range of creative projects, working solo and alongside other composers, and meeting the demands of film makers, agencies and businesses around the world. This autumn I have made the music to Toyota’s new Mirai, which you can listen to on their website. I have also recently arranged compositions provided to compliment video footage of the Toyota Rally Team in Finland. My commercial work also includes music for a promotional video for the huge Chinese jewellery brand Chow Tai Fook. I’ve seen my work aired on TV documentaries. Earlier this year my compositions and arrangements, created alongside Vik Sharma, were aired on Channel 4’s war documentary Messages Home: Lost Films of the British Army. Last year, my arrangements and programming were used in the main titles for BBC 2’s 2015 TV documentary series Atlantic: The Wildest Ocean on Earth. It gives me a huge amount of satisfaction to hear my work played out against a great narrative. I would encourage enquiries for media or commercial professionals and hope I can treat their ears to something big and bold, small and intriguing, or completely different, whatever the right sound might be next time.
